The Philippines considers ‘layover tours’ for local, international tourists

Philippines, 18th Feb 2024, King NewsWireChristina Frasco, the Secretary of Tourism for the Philippines, made the announcement on recently that the government of the Philippines intends to initiate a “layover tour” program for both domestic and international travelers who are passing through the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (National Airport).

According to Frasco, the Department of Tourism (DOT) is currently in discussions with various organizations, including airport authorities, in order to encourage the launch to take place as early as the second quarter of 2024.

She stated in an interview that “for the very first time, mayroon tayong, in the works na ngayon, layover tours para sa ating mga layover or transit passengers” (we already have layover tours for our layover or transit passengers) as they are currently in the process of being developed.

Imagine that you just have a few hours to spend in the Philippines, but you are able to learn about the country by taking one of our Philippine Hop-on Hop-off (HOHO) bus tours.

It was said by the head of Philippine Tourism that government agencies are now in the process of negotiating the technical aspects of the program. This includes the procedure for tourists who will briefly depart the airport gates in order to embark on side trips to Manila.

In a news article from the Philippine News Agency, Sec. Frasco said: “We are very hopeful that this will be one of the innovations that we will introduce in order to give the Philippines an added competitive edge to become Asia’s tourism powerhouse.”

It is anticipated that the recently introduced HOHO (Hop-on Hop-off) Pasay-Paranaque, which is also referred to as the Entertainment Hub Route, will be introduced as part of the forthcoming tourism program.

Also recently, the Department of Transportation (DOT) introduced the HOHO Pasay-Paranaque Route, which is comprised of thirteen bus stops and is designed to promote the numerous “entertainment hotspots” in both of the cities.

Following the opening of the HOHO Business and Cultural Hubs in Makati and Manila in the previous year, this is the third event of its sort.

According to the Department of Transportation (DOT), that in spite of the fact that these cities have historical landmarks and commercial districts, their emergence as entertainment hubs has been a defining feature that attracts both locals and tourists alike.

The report went on to say that their combination of modern entertainment complexes and vibrant nightlife makes them integral pillars in shaping Manila’s entertainment landscape.

Here is a list of the thirteen bus stops that have been allocated in Pasay and Paranaque:

  • Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminals 1, 2, and 3
  • Newport World Resorts
  • City of Dreams
  • Ayala Malls Manila Bay
  • Parqal
  • Okada Manila
  • Solaire Resort
  • Luxe Duty Free
  • MOA Main Stop
  • SMX Convention Center
  • MOA Seaside

Through a mobile application that was built specifically for HOHO, travelers from all over the country, both domestic and international, are able to take advantage of the new HOHO tour. This application allows them to book their trip, which can be either guided or do-it-yourself (DIY).

HOHO is a mobile application that can be downloaded from the Google Play Store as well as the App Store.

There are plans to open at least three additional HOHO hubs in the year 2024. These hubs include the Heart Hub (which will be placed in San Juan, Pasig, and Mandaluyong), the Lifestyle Hub (which will be located in Taguig, which is known as The Bonifacio Global City), and the Mind Hub, which will concentrate on well-known educational institutions that are situated in Quezon City.

Philippines (country) Hop-On-High-Five-Off Travel by the Hubs runs through designated hubs, which provide tourists the opportunity to choose their chosen location and the length of their stay from a variety of options.
