Opening on October 4th, the exhibition, titled Unreal, showcases surreal paintings by Avery Palmer, Alex Gross, Peter Zokosky, John Brosio, and many more outstanding artists. On October 14th, visitors can participate in the lively and educational conference geared towards nurturing dialogue on contemporary painting and the shared ideas that define current trends in the field. This conference provides a unique opportunity and an intimate setting to interact with top artists. UC Davis, home to artist Roy de Forest, Roland Peterson, Wayne Thiebaud, and Robert Arneson, was instrumental in defining a new direction for a uniquely West Coast style. With an oil paint demonstration and workshop by Ryan Martin, sponsored by Winsor & Newton, a panel discussion with John Seed, Bill Maul, and Alla Bartoshchuk, and lectures by Carrie Ann Baade and Chester Arnold, visitors won’t leave Davis dissatisfied.
