Domitila How do you see the landscape of eco-friendly tourism evolving in Asia Thailand?

I came to Thailand the first time with my best friend that is half Thai half German almost 10 years ago and felt in love! So I started learned more about this magical place. Last year when I came, Thailand shifted policies towards ambitious sustainability goals. The updated nationally determined contribution targets a 30–40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. A revised Long-Term Low Greenhouse Gas Emissions Development Strategy emphasizes accelerated efforts.

This year for my stay in Phuket I decided to be at my Beach Phuket because I like the idea of their implementation of sustainable aspects such as Paperless, Plastic free, they do a weekly clean beach day and have the tourism certification STD (sustainable tourism destination). Those type of certification and efforts is very important and gives me hope for the development of eco-friendly tourism.

2. As a GREENfluencer with a passion for travel, how do you leverage your platform to inspire your audience to choose eco-friendly travel options in Asia?

I think special after the pandemic and with the growth of sustainable and eco-friendly travel options is my job to share with my community and over 2 million followers the different experiences and places for travel and conscious consume.

Always following the GLOCAL track and putting environmental and social responsible aspects in the center. People love to travel and want to know where and how to with the less social and environmental negative impact so I share my experiences with my community and encourage them to keep a eco-friendly living while not getting depressed or burned out discovering Mother Earth and her wonderful expressions.

3. In your experience, there is some innovative initiatives or practices you’ve encountered during your travels in Asia that showcase a genuine commitment to environmental conservation in the tourism industry?

In Asia, I have come across remarkable initiatives promoting environmental conservation in the tourism industry. Examples include eco-friendly accommodations incorporating sustainable materials, community-based tourism fostering local conservation efforts, and innovative waste reduction programs, such as plastic-free policies and biodegradable packaging for food and delivery services. Additionally, some destinations prioritize wildlife protection through responsible wildlife tourism practices, ensuring a harmonious balance between tourism and nature preservation.
