Upon setting up their account through the app, consumers receive a unique ID generated by the app. They can affix this ID to their bag and then proceed to drop off their bags at the depot. The team will work on the drop-off and credit consumers with cash or help them donate it to charity.

Calgary residents can also request the center’s pickup service, where the Calgary Bottle Exchange team comes to their homes, businesses, or condos to pick up bottles. To use the pickup bottle exchange service, community members are required to also download the SkipTheDepot app to schedule their residential, commercial, and multi-family pickups. With this option, users are encouraged to either hand over the bag during the collection attempt or leave their bottles in a location where the collection team can retrieve them.

Calgary Bottle Exchange also provides the Standard Bottle Drive service to community members who are passionate about a cause and interested in raising money and awareness for different charities. The Calgary bottle depot accepts specific beverage container types, including aluminum, glass, tetra packs, clear plastics, bi-metals, plastics, pouches, and gable tops. They pay 25 cents for bottles larger than 1L and 10 cents for bottles equal to or less than 1L.
