The new services have been launched to dispel common misconceptions among business owners that they might not be eligible even if they have received one or both Payroll Protection Program (PPP) funding. When the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was originally signed into law, establishing the ERTC and the PPP, the latter was more beneficial than the former for most businesses, so most of them chose to receive PPP loans.

In light of employers’ initial preference for PPP loans, ERTC Express’ updated services aim to raise awareness of changes to the law made in March 2021 which modified and expanded existing elements of both programs. Now businesses that applied for and received PPP funds can also claim the ERTC. According to the consultancy, most employers – and even certified accountants – are not aware of this change.
Both the ERTC and the PPP were signed into law as part of the CARES Act in March 2020 to help businesses retain their employees, but the ERTC is generally not as well-known as the PPP. ERTC funds are refunds for a portion of payroll in each quarter for which the claimant qualifies. Eligibility is determined by quarter, and the claimable amount per employee is limited.
The consultancy aims to correct the general lack of awareness of the ERTC. Their website has a claim calculator to help employers determine whether they qualify in as little as four minutes. The website also features an extensive FAQ section, and each client’s credit amount is checked by three different CPA teams before their claim is submitted.
ERTC Express has helped over 9,300 businesses receive refunds totaling over $1.3 billion. Three-quarters of the businesses they’ve successfully helped did not know they were qualified to receive the credit. ERTC Express helps business owners navigate the complex filing process to receive the largest eligible rebate from the program.
“We had no idea about the ERTC before speaking to ERTC Express,” one happy client said. “But in just over six weeks, we learned that we qualified for $773,000 in total rebates.”
